“My name is Charly Martinez, and I am the deputy manager of the overhead line maintenance team in Aurillac. At RTE, we are responsible for maintaining high-voltage electrical installations, ranging from 63 kV to 400 kV, across several departments: Corrèze, Lot, Cantal, and Aveyron. I have been working in Aurillac for two years as part of an operational team of 15 people.

2) How long have you been using Le Lorrain blowtorches?

We have been using Le Lorrain blowtorches for a short time. A new budget allowed us to replace our old blowtorches, which had become outdated. Since we often work at heights and in precarious positions, it is crucial to have reliable, high-quality equipment to make our work easier and ensure our safety. 3)What are they used for?

We primarily use HP1 blowtorches with a 1000 mm reinforced hose. These tools allow us to cut high-voltage pylons while maintaining a safe working distance. In case of damage, some pylons can be deformed, twisted, or at risk of collapsing. The challenges in such situations are immense, and the use of blowtorches enables slow, controlled cuts to manage deformations without causing sudden or unexpected movements. Since our structures can reach heights of up to 50 meters, this requires great agility and meticulous planning beforehand. The blowtorches help us ensure better safety for our employees during these delicate operations.
